A Saudi relief delegation, led by Dr Abdulrahman Al-Suweilim, the President of the Saudi Red Crescent Society, left today for Darfur to get acquainted with the real situation in this Sudanese province. This comes in line with the directives of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, to extend all possible assistance to the displaced people in the province. Prior to departure, Dr Al-Suweilim, in a statement to SPA, said that the visit of the delegation to Darfur will be followed by the departure of the Saudi medical and relief delegation to the province for extending the required assistance to the displaced people. He hoped that the Saudi relief delegation, in cooperation with the Sudanese government and people and the international organizations, would be capable of performing its mission in the service of the people of Darfur. The delegation comprises a number of specialists in the various relief domains.
