The Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Pierre Krahenbuhl announced the reduction of the Agency's fiscal deficit from 446 to 21 million US dollars for the current year. During the press conference held today on the sidelines of the Agency's Advisory Commission meetings being held in Jordan, the Commissioner General expressed his thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the United Nations Secretary General, EU Representative for High Level Policy, the Secretary General of the Arab League and several countries for their efforts, and the unprecedented amount of financial resources collected by the Agency through the Rome and New York conferences where work has been done at the highest levels to provide the necessary support. He also said that the Kingdom of Saudi has provided support in the amount of 50 million US dollars to the Agency, as this unprecedented support has helped reduce the budget deficit.
