Speaker of the Lower House of Jordanian Parliament Atef Tarawneh has sent letters to several Muslim, regional and international parliamentary assemblies and federations asking for their backing of a Jordanian proposal to support the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA), during an Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting to be held in Geneva next month. According to Petra, Tarawneh addressed the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), presenting a Jordanian proposal to be put on the meeting's agenda to support UNRWA so that it can play its role in serving the refugees. Tarawneh also called on the Islamic, African, European and Latin parliaments to support the Jordanian proposal, stressing that standing by the rights of the Palestinian people will go down in history.
