The US State Department has welcomed the announcement by the Arab Coalition for the Restoration of Legitimacy in Yemen, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on review of the rules of engagement after the recent raid on Saada, calling it "an important first step towards full transparency and accountability." The US State Department called on "all sides" in Yemen to abide by the law of war to mitigate harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure, and called for a comprehensive investigation to ensure accountability for all those who committed abuses. The Foreign Ministry statement said that it is inevitable for all parties to work for a comprehensive political solution and avoid any further harm to the Yemeni people. The statement stressed support for the efforts of the United Nations envoy in Yemen, Martin Griffiths, with all the warring parties and trying to gather them at the dialogue table in Geneva.
