Saudi Ambassador to Yemen and Emirati Ambassador to KSA meet Ambassadors
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 16 - 06 - 2018

Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen, Executive Director of Comprehensive Humanitarian Operations Center Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, and Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan met at the headquarters of Ministry of Foreign Affairs here today with ambassadors of the five permanent members of the Security Council and a number of ambassadors accredited to the Kingdom.
During the meeting, they discussed latest developments in the Republic of Yemen, the Yemeni army's achievements and victories in Hodeidah, humanitarian efforts being exerted for the Yemeni people, and a number of issues of mutual interest.
For his part, Saudi Ambassador Al Jaber said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the Kingdom and coalition countries support the legitimate government and the Yemeni army which has proven its heroism in restoring Yemeni lands from Houthi militias supported by Iran and the liberation of the port and city of Hodeidah will represent a liberation of the humanitarian and relief work from the grip and terrorism of Houthi militias which used the port to serve their interests, smuggle weapons being provided from Iran, prolong the war, impoverish and starve the Yemeni people.
He added that the political solution based on the three references including the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outcomes of the Yemeni national dialogue and Security Council resolution 2216 has been sought by the coalition and the international community, and has been rejected so far by Houthi militias.
On the humanitarian work of the coalition countries, Ambassador Al Jaber said that through the comprehensive humanitarian operations plan launched by the coalition in January 2018, we carried out works completing good initiatives launched for the Yemeni people, noting that the plan has several projects including raising the capacity of Yemeni ports and projects for repairing and habilitating roads in Yemen, and that the Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait have provided more than a third of international contributions to the United Nations humanitarian response plan in Yemen, pointing out that the coalition will work immediately after the liberation of the port to deliver relief materials and humanitarian aid in an initiative launched two days ago to reach all areas of Yemen, and the port will be a lifeline for Yemenis and not a conduit for weapons of death and destruction and illegal enrichment of Houthi militias.
