The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the session held by the Cabinet at Al-Salam palace in Jeddah this evening. At the outset of the meeting, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques expressed thanks to and appreciation of Their Majesty, Excellences and Highnesses, the leaders of friendly countries as well as Saudi citizens for the noble feelings and good wishes they extended to him on the occasion of the advent of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, appealing to God the Almighty to accept the good deeds of all Muslims and forgive them in this blessed month. The monarch briefed the Cabinet on the contents of the telephone call he made to President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine, citing the Kingdom's condemnation of the ugly aggression of the Israeli occupation forces against the unarmed Palestinian people, reiterating the Kingdom's firm positions towards the Palestinian cause and its support for the friendly Palestinian people to restore their inalienable legal rights. The monarch also briefed the Cabinet on the contents of the telephone call he received from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which they reviewed the latest developments in the region and the efforts being exerted towards them. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency following the meeting, Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, Minister of Culture and Information, said that the Cabinet highlighted the contents of the speech in which the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has addressed the people of the Kingdom and all Muslims on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, citing the sincere wishes and appeals to God the Almighty that Ramadan would carry good omen, characterized by security, stability, amicability and peace to the Islamic nation and the entire world and to help the Kingdom continue shouldering the honor it was gracing by Allah to serve the pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors of the two holy mosques as the Kingdom has since its establishment strenuously worked to keep the bright profile of the Islamic religion and work to defend the faith and seek the service of Muslims' interests and Islamic issues and it was and still working with all its might, political leverage and international status to fight extremism and terrorism, confirming that they don't belong to any religion or sect or culture and confront whoever dares to mar the security and stability of the world. --More 00:10 LOCAL TIME 21:10 GMT 0029 www.spa.gov.sa/1768876
