Foreign Ministry's Undersecretary for International Affairs Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al-Rassi headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, under the title "Strengthening International Peace and Security for Sustainable Development". Dr. Al-Rassi stressed the Saudi Arabia's adherence to the Non-Aligned Movement and its role in light of the decline in respect for the principles of international law and disregard for the resolutions of international legitimacy, which threatens international peace and security and impedes the ability of states to achieve the desired sustainable development. He pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called on all Member States to cease all forms of aggression and to refrain from any action that was contrary to the policy of good neighborliness and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states, which was one of the fundamental principles of the Non-Aligned Movement. Dr. Al-Rassi pointed out that the regional and international events did not change the kingdom's steadfast position on the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to obtain all their legitimate rights, foremost of which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital. He stressed that Saudi Arabia had an early duty to develop a special counter-terrorism strategy, hosted the International Conference on Combating Terrorism in Riyadh in 2005, in the wake of which the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center was established. Dr. Al-Rassi pointed to the Kingdom's leading role in establishing the international coalition to fight the terrorist organization, establishing the Riyadh-based International Center for the Fight Against Terrorist Thought " ETIDAL ", and the establishment of the Islamic Military Coalition for Combating Terrorism, noting Saudi donation to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts in the Sahel member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement. He affirmed the firm position of Saudi Arabia to support Yemen, its people and its legitimate government in confronting the terrorist Iranian backed Houthi militia, which is the main cause of the conflict in Yemen since its occupation of Sana'a and the resulting humanitarian crisis. The coalition to support the legitimate government in Yemen has recently launched a comprehensive humanitarian plan to help the Yemeni people with $ 1.5 billion. Dr. Al-Rassi stressed that Saudi Arabia calls on the Conference to adopt a strong stance towards the Houthi militias which continue its aggression against Saudi Arabia and the countries of the region. This is a violation of the international resolutions including Resolution No. 2216, pointing out that the report of the Committee of Experts of the Security Council proved the entry of Iranian missiles and military equipment to support Houthi militias in Yemen, especially the ballistic missiles, which are about 106 rockets, targeted a number of cities in the Kingdom, including Makkah and Riyadh. He pointed out that the Kingdom has supported the poor countries through the Saudi Development Fund in more than 68 countries of the Movement and provided more than $ 35 billion as in development and humanitarian assistance. Dr. Al-Rassi said that the Saudi Arabian Government supports the political process on the basis of the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council since 2007 to reach a political and final solution to the regional dispute over Western Sahara, expressing the Saudi Arabia's appreciation for the serious efforts of the Kingdom of Morocco to find a political solution to this crisis.
