The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its reservation on the UN report on children in Yemen because of the inaccuracy of the information contained therein and which was based on misleading sources. Secretary-General of the Organization Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen said that the organization hoped that the report would faithfully convey the main reasons behind the intervention of the Arab coalition forces in Yemen after the Salih and Houthi militias took over the legitimate authority in Yemen and threatened the peace and security of the region and committed terrible crimes against civilians and children and used them as human shields, in a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law. He praised the efforts exerted by the Arab coalition countries under the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ensure the safety of Yemeni civilians, including children. They are working to restore legitimacy and fight terrorism in Yemen and is one of the most important countries providing humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people. He added that the coalition countries are making efforts to support the peace process led by the UN envoy in order to reach a political settlement according to the Gulf initiative and the outputs of the national dialogue and Security Council resolution 2216. He stressed the need to adhere to the objective methodology in the preparation of such reports to maintain the credibility of the United Nations.
