Jordan's King Abdullah II on Sunday received a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives, headed by Nancy Pelosi, head of the Democratic Party's Bloc, for a discussion on Jordan-U.S. cooperation and strategic partnership and regional and international issues. During the meeting, King Abdullah emphasized the importance of achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region, underlining the need to intensify regional and international efforts to re-launch negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis on the basis of the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
