Jordan's King Abdullah II, on Thursday, discussed with a number of British politicians, intellectual leaders and academics, current challenges in the Middle East and efforts to combat terrorism and extremism. King Abdullah underlined the need to intensify global efforts to eradicate terrorism which poses a major threat to the Middle East and the whole world. He renewed the call for a holistic approach to counter this threat especially in Africa and Asia. The King stressed that the war on terrorism is not only military, but also has an ideological aspect, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported. On peacemaking efforts, King Abdullah emphasized that the international community should intensify its efforts to revive the current deadlocked peace process and work to bring about a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with the two-state solution. The discussion also dealt with the latest developments in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen and the need to reach political solutions to the crises in these countries.
