The Central Bank of Yemen said here today that the circular of its branch, in Sanaa, which is subject to the Houthis backed by the Iranian-backed coup, is invalid and illegal (Null and void). The central bank confirmed, in a counter-circular that the precautionary seizure funds of some Yemeni figures, at branches of banks, in Sana'a "is void and lacks any legal or professional basis." The document pointed out that "it is not permissible to deal with the generalization attributed to the Financial Information Unit of the Central Bank of Yemen, Sana'a branch, which leaked to the media and social networking platforms regarding the precautionary seizure of bank accounts of a number of bodies and persons. Central Bank counter-circular clarified that the Financial Information Unit, at the Sana'a branch wrote the circular under the threat and domination of the Houthi militias. The statement pointed out that "the directives issued to banks and other financial institutions, should be taken into consideration by the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen or his authorized representative." Houthi coup has issued a circular listing 1223 people, in Yemen, on Tuesday, including Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi and a number of state officials, aimed to freeze their properties and accounts, at Yemeni banks, real estate and other personal possessions.
