The 3rd international conference on the role of Fatwa (Islamic legal decree by clergic penal or a senior scholar) started in the Egyptian capital, Cairo today in the attendance of Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Islamic renowned university, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb; Secretary General of Makkah-based Muslim World League Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Isa; Mufti of Egypt Dr. Shawgi Allam; Egypt's minister of endowments Dr. Mohammed Mukhtar Jumaa; and other Muftis and representatives of Ifta commissions from 63 countries. In an opening speech, Dr. Shawgi Ibrahim Allam, who chairs the conference, drew attention to the challenges facing the region in view of the increasing phenomenon of terrorism and extremism due to the issuance of confusing and deviant Fatwas which run against the true path of Islam, leaving negative impact on the youths who dare to destabilize quiet societies and harm innocent people in what is called today terrorism and to a large extent attributed to Muslim activists. He demonstrated how that harms Islam's message to mankind and undermines what we are building for decades.
