Al-Azhar Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sayed Tantawi, has stressed the importance of the Global Islamic Conference of Dialogue to be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Makkah under patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on First Jumadah 30, hailing the efforts exerted by the Kingdom which reflect its position and leading role in serving Islam and Muslim issues. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Tantawi said that the conference is blessed as it calls for dialogue between individuals and groups, adding that since the dialogue emanates from a good word and good faith, it must result in good outcomes that pour into the Muslim world interests. He pointed out that Egypt's participation in the conference will be at a high level delegation led by him and includes Dr. Ali Joma'ah, Egypt's Mufti, Dr. Nasr Farid Wasel, former Egypt's Mufti and a number of senior Islamic scholars in Egypt. He stressed the necessity of the conference to reach results that support Muslims and Islam. On his part, Dr. Abdulfattah Allam, Al-Azhar Undersecretary and Head of Committee of Dialogue Among Religions, welcomed the Global Islamic Conference of Dialogue, asserting the role of dialogue in reaching common points between individuals and groups and in avoidance of repulsions and disputes that lead to conflicts and clashes between individuals and doctrines. Dr. Allam said that we as Muslims believe in culture of dialogue with others and communications of civilizations rather than conflict, noting that there are many things between religion followers that can be agreed upon.
