Minister of Culture and Information: I have found generous understanding and support from German officials for the Kingdom's position on boycotting Qatar
Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, Minister of Culture and Information, stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen to support all means of curbing terrorism, eradicating it and cutting off its financing altogether. Following a three-day visit to Germany, Al-Awwad has met several German officials at the parliament, presidency affairs and national security. He also met with the German foreign minister, Vice Speaker of German Parliament and officials at the national security apparatus. "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries' stances with regard to severing relations with the State of Qatar attained substantial understanding from the German officials following the presentation of information proving Qatar's involvement in funding terrorism and extremism, support and sponsorship its prominent figures and use of Al-Jazeera as a media platform that promotes violence and terrorists," Al-Awwad said. He added that through its programs and interviews as well as special coverages, Al-Jazeera Channel describes these terrorists as heroes and leaders inciting thereby terrorist operations; he pointed out that Al-Jazeera Channel broadcast documentaries praising the New York bombers of September 11, portraying them as great heroes when, in fact, they were murderers and criminals who shed blood and destroyed property and lives with no mercy. "Although Al-Jazeera fulminates slogans such as ‘freedom of expression' and ‘opinion vs. other opinion,' it actually uses these as devices to pass Qatar's agenda in spreading violence, extremism and interference in states' internal affairs as well as misrepresentation of facts and falsification events in line with its criminal plans against human life, security, and stability in the region," Al-Awwad confirmed. "Qatar sought to mislead public opinion in order to cover its criminal activities for many years. It uses money to win the cases deceitfully, as it did in hosting the 2022 World Cup, but it will never be able to deceive anymore after having its evil intentions exposed to the world in supporting and sponsoring terrorism," he added. "Qatar must reconsider its positions in supporting terrorism and taking the right path to contribute to protecting global security. Therefore, Qatar must extradite criminals and stop the flow of financial support to individuals and institutions included in terrorist lists," Al-Awwad said. The Minister of Culture and Information said: "Following his meeting with Deputy Speaker of Parliament Claudia Roth and providing her with information that prove Qatar's involvement in supporting terrorism, she found in these similarities to Qatar's corruptive approach revealed through the use of money to buy consciences and falsification of facts in winning the bedding for the FIFA World Cup in 2022. She protested that Qatar shouldn't allowed to host the event because of its corruption, sponsorship of terrorism, and endangering security and international stability." Minister Al-Awwad pointed out that Qatar, in collaboration with Iran, worked to falsify the facts and spread disinformation by playing the victim and disseminating false information provided by Iranian Minister Jawad Zarif. Al-Awwad stated that his visit to Germany sought to reveal the facts supported by concrete incontrovertible evidence that categorically convict Qatar of financing and supporting of terrorism. He concluded that the German Foreign Minister will visit the Kingdom soon to confirm cooperation between Germany and the Kingdom.
