Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Okaz, Al-Youm and Al-Sharq newspapers commented on what they termed in their editorials as the historic relations at the official and popular levels between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Turkey, believing that the role of any of them in any matter pertaining to the Middle East in particular is irreplaceable. Al-Sharq explained that Turkey is an Islamic Republic and the Kingdom is the first Islamic state which on its territory lies the most important Islamic holy sites at all; the Two Holy Mosques and emanated from its territories, the Islamic religion spread around the world, citing the great Islamic role being played by the Kingdom. It further said that the visit of the Turkish president to the Kingdom and his meeting with its senior officials, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud aim to strengthen the bonds of Islamic relationship between the two countries and greater understanding and coordination on regional and international developments. The papers concluded that the Kingdom and Turkey are assuming major responsibilities concerning the events, and from this standpoint, the coordination of their positions comes as the priority of the Turkish President's visit and his meeting with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
