Vincent Aboubakar's late goal secured Cameroon their first Africa Cup of Nations crown since 2002 with a 2-1 victory over Egypt on Sunday in the Gabonese capital Libreville, according to dpa. Aboubakar tallied the winner in the 89th minute for Cameroon, who became champions of Africa for the fifth time. Mohamed Elneny had opened the scoring in the 22nd minute for the record seven-time champions Egypt before Nicolas Nkoulou equalised at the 60-minute mark. Cameroon's victory also qualifies them for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia from June 17-July 2. The Indomitable Lions also won the continental titles in 1984, 1988 and 2000. Their previous final came in 2008 when they lost to Egypt. Egypt had not lost at the Afcon since 2004 - a stretch which included three straight crowns in 2006, 2008 and 2010. The Pharaohs failed to qualify for the three championships prior to Gabon 2017. And their only loss in an Afcon final came in 1962 against Ethiopia.
