The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the attack on a troop from the UN peacekeeping forces in the Central African Republic, which claimed the lives of two Moroccan soldiers and wounded two others. The peacekeepers were escorting, on 3 January 2017, a fuel truck convoy about 60 kilometers in the eastern town of Obo. Expressing regret over the incident, OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen stressed the OIC's full solidarity with and support for the CAR to restore peace and stability in the country. He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Moroccan government and the bereaved families of the victims of this tragic event. Further, the OIC Secretary General renewed the Organization's principled position roundly condemning terrorism and extremism in all forms.
