Small Earthquake Hits Western North Carolina

A small earthquake was reported early Tuesday in western North Carolina.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occurred roughly 48 kilometers west of Asheville.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The quake could be felt in Asheville.
The magnitude 2.9 quake occurred 3 kilometers beneath the surface.
