Executive Director of Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) Nasser bin Bakr Al-Qahtani has stressed that the Program's partnership with OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) is witnessing development in a positive direction with the convergence of developmental goals of the two organizations, noting that the joint efforts are now focusing on reducing energy poverty in the developing communities. He said that AGFUND made the inexpensive energy as a main product in the banks, which were founded in the framework of Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz's initiative to combat poverty through specialized banks in integrating the poor into the financial system. Al-Qahtani has held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of OFID Suleiman Al-Harbash in Riyadh-based main office of AGFUND. He said that the partnership between AGFUND and OFID contributes to the successes being achieved by Prince Talal's initiative to establish microfinance banks in Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Palestine and Sierra Leone, where it recorded remarkable successes in the reduction of poverty and provision of solutions for social and economic problems through products that meet the needs. For his part, Al-Harbash pointed out that "OFID" which celebrates the 40th anniversary of its foundation approved that the celebration should be focused on the refugee issue that worries the world.
