5.3 degrees earthquake hits eastern Japan

An earthquake measuring 5.3 degrees on the Richter scale struck eastern Japan this morning.
Japan's Meteorological Agency said that the quake occurred at 11:50 local time (0250 GMT) and its epicenter in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo.
There were no reports of casualties or damage, or warnings of tsunami.
