Foreign minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir received at his office here today his Uzbekistan's counterpart Abdulaziz Kamlov. In remarks to the press following the meeting, Al-Jubeir welcomed the Uzbek minister, lauding the relations between the two countries. He said he discussed during the meeting with the Uzbekistan's minister of foreign affairs ways of further enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries. He added that the discussion also tackled the forthcoming ministerial level meeting of the OIC scheduled for Tashkent. In reply to a question on the results of investigations into the attack against the Saudi Embassy and consulate in Iran's capital and Mash-had respectively, Al-Jubeir said the news we have on this issue are the same on the Iranian media which indicated that no tough punishment awaiting the culprits who committed this crime. "And that's not strange as more than 12 embassies have been stormed by mobs in Iran over the last 25 years", he commented. "I don't think, as far as I know, that any of those who committed those criminal acts over the last 25 years was punished. So, I don't rule out that this act of hostility would go the same way", he added. "So, this is a clear evidence that this operation is an organized plot supported by the Iranian regime, Al-Jubeir concluded. For his part, the Uzbek foreign minister told reporters that on his agenda with Al-Jubeir this morning was the issue of the forthcoming OIC ministerial meeting to be held in October in Tashkent, expressing welcome of the Kingdom's participation in this meeting. The meeting was attended by senior protocol officials from the two sides.
