The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the country's central bank, today denied as untrue social media reports predicting a date of issuing a new Saudi paper and coin currency of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The denial, given in a statement to Saudi Press Agency, also described the copies of different paper and coin currency categories of the so-called new banknotes as invented. SAMA furthermore categorically refuted reports about plans to issue a SR1000 banknote as reported in the social media. However, the monetary authority confirmed that plans are underway to develop a technically, security-wise and qualitatively world class paper and coin currency of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The new issue will be floating on schedule and will be announced on the media well before that schedule, SAMA said, calling on everybody to recon to the official sources of news, including the Saudi Press Agency.
