The Shura Council's Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities Committee, led by its Chairman Dr. Ahmed bin Omar Al-Zaylaee held a meeting with the President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein today to discuss SPA's annual report for the fiscal year 1435/1436 H. At the outset of the meeting, the Chairman of the committee welcomed SPA President, lauding the performance of SPA, particularly its efforts in the media coverage of local and international events, wishing its crew continuous success. He underscored the importance of direct meetings of Shura specialized committees with government officials to get first hand information to help the chamber's sub-committees provide the plenary meetings of the Shura Council with complete and thorough reports and, thus, pave the way for good outcomes and decisions by the council based on debates of such reports. He noted that today's meeting will discuss in detail the news agency's report on its annual performance. For his part, the President of SPA, personally and on behalf of his accompanying delegation, expressed happiness of attending this meeting, confirming his organization's keenness to keep in continuous touch with the Shura Council's culture, information, tourism, and antiquities committee for further developing SPA's performance to promote its work and benefit from the experience of the Shura Council's members, on one hand, and brief the council's members on the role it is playing, the internal developments it is witnessing, particularly in the information and technological fields, and its coverage of the local and world events as well as the highlighting of the status enjoyed by the Kingdom in the world on the other. Then, the President of SPA answered questions of the committee members on the contents of the report. The committee is set to submit a detailed and comprehensive report on SPA's annual performance to a future session of the Council, including its recommendations. The meeting was attended by SPA Vice President Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Awadh; Director General of Financial and Administrative Affairs Majed bin Saad Al-Majed and Director General of the Technology Department Abdullah Al-Abdullatif.
