A senior Daesh leader has been killed, U.S. defense officials said Friday.
Officials told NBC News that Daesh second-in-command Haji Imam was killed during a raid in Syria this month.
U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Joe Dunford are expected to provide details on the raid later Friday.
