The kingdom's delegation participating in the 18th session of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons expressed deep concern about what is stated in the report of the Director General on the work of declaration assessment team and statements related to Syria showing growing evidence of the Syrian regime's hiding of information relevant to its chemical program, especially with regard to the production of the sarin material and the production of nerve gas (VX) and the results of the samples' analysis which proved its presence in locations which they were not announced before that they were used in the production of chemical weapons. In a statement, the delegation of the kingdom urged the technical secretariat to continue its efforts to obtain the information needed to clarify the apparent discrepancy in the Syrian announcement data. The delegation said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia renews its commitment to the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and interest in its implementation at the national and international levels, which is an extension of its policy to contribute effectively to efforts to ban all weapons of mass destruction and prevent their spread in the entire world, especially the Middle East. The delegation highlighted the kingdom's great and extensive efforts in field of the prohibition of weapons of mass destruction. The Saudi delegation stressed that the use of chemical weapons under any circumstances is something that cannot be tolerated. --More
