Shaghrud explained that the Saudi delegation was briefed on the report submitted by the Director General on the elimination of the Syrian regime's chemical weapons program, adding that the delegation appreciates the great efforts made by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), as well as the UN Mission Joint Group of Experts on the ground in Syria in light of the exceptional circumstances. He said that in spite of the progress achieved in the transfer and destruction of the declared Syrian chemical weapons, yet, that all this does not dispel our grave concern of several issues, especially the mystery in data's accuracy according to Syrian announcement, where it is not sure so far by 100% that there are no remaining chemical weapons with the Syrian regime right now. He further said that "The Kingdom encourages the Technical Secretariat to continue its efforts to obtain the required information from the Syrian regime, and we refer to the repeated and continuing use of chlorine gas against the Syrian people and, most recently was in last September," Saudi Ambassador Al-Shaghrud added that while we welcome what has been achieved by the Fact-Finding Committee on the attack with chemical weapons in its second report, issued on 10 September, which clearly points to the systematic and repeated use of these weapons, even by military helicopters resulted in the killing of thousands of the Syrian people, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia encourages the Committee to continue its work until it brings those responsible for these barbaric, inhumane and unethical attacks to international criminal court.
