OIC INFORMATION MINISTERS CONCLUDE CONFERENCE 7 JEDDAH

year work programs approved by the third extraordinary session of the Islamic Summit Conference held in Makkah on 7 and 8 December 2005.
The conference recommended that a board of directors for the union be formed under the chairmanship of the Minister of Culture and Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the membership of each of Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Sudan, Gambia, Genea, Mali, Uganda, Turkey, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Iran and the Secretary General of the OIC or his representative. The board shall take measure to stay in constant contact with similar regional and international federations.
The conference recommended benefit from developments of cyberspace and the internet and use all its means to deliver the Islamic media message to the targeted audience inside the Islamic world and outside it.
Sixth: The conference recommended a formation of a ministerial follow-up committee affiliated to the seventh session and be composed of Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia, Yemen, Libya, Morocco, Turkey, Sera Leone and the Secretary General of the OIC. The Secretary General shall be charged with revising previous resolutions and report on them to the eighth session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers.
Seventh: As part of boosting joint Islamic work among member countries, the meeting recommends that work of the organization's Information Department be improved by providing it with necessary manpower and material resources to be able to achieve its duty set by ministers of information of the member countries.
Under other new items, the ministers and heads of delegations decided to include some important issues in the final communiqué of the conference. They are as follows:
A- Freedom and Ease of Movement of Media Men Among the Organization's Member Countries:
The conference urges the organization's member countries to facilitate all measures enabling the media men of the national media to move easily among member countries.
B- Right of Citizens of Member Countries to Access to Information:
Conditions of development and welfare of Muslim citizens require access to information from the media and from its sources in good time free of charge or for a reasonable cost. International human rights conventions and international laws and constitutions guaranteed this right due to its great importance in the lives of people.
On this basis, the member countries approve the right of citizens in the Islamic countries to easy access to information.
