AlHijjah 21, 1436, Oct 5, 2015, SPA -- Four Indian Army soldiers and a militant were killed Monday in two separate gun battles in India-administered Kashmir, an army official said. Four soldiers were killed in a firefight with rebels in the Hafruda forests, while a militant was shot dead in a separate encounter in the Lolab area - both in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir state, dpa quoted the official as saying. Indian Army soldiers and Jammu and Kashmir police had launched a joint operation upon receiving information that suspected militants were hiding in the Hafruda forests near the line of control. The four soldiers were killed when the security forces approached the area and came under heavy fire from the militants. The gunfight in Lolab also came after a tip off on the presence of suspected militants in the area.
