At least five suspected militants were killed in clashes with Indian security forces in Afroda forests on Thursday, officials said. Acting on a tip-off, soldiers surrounded militants in the Afroda forests in the northern district of Kupwara. Five militants were killed in the gun battle, a defence official was quoted as saying by DPA. Clashes are continuing. Soldiers are searching the adjoining Lolab area to track down more insurgents believed to be hiding there.
