AlQa'dah 27, 1436, September 11, 2015, SPA -- Brazil and Swedish defence contractor Saab have agreed on the final details to develop and produce 36 Gripen Next Generation fighter aircraft for the Brazilian Air Force, dpa reported. The 39.3-million-kronor (4.7-billion-dollar) contract entered Thursday into "effect as all required conditions have been fulfilled," Saab said. Brazil selected the single-engine Gripen after also considering US firm Boeing's F-18 Super Hornet and Rafale fighter jets made by France's Dassault. Deliveries of the 28 single-seat jets and eight twin-seat jets to the Brazilian Air Force were due from 2019 to 2024. The Gripen system is currently used in Sweden, South Africa, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Thailand. -- SPA 03:32 LOCAL TIME 00:32 GMT تغريد
