A landslide in a north-western Chinese mining town left 40 people missing, state media reported Wednesday, according to dpa. It occurred shortly after midnight in Shaanxi province, burying five dormitories and three houses belonging to the Wuzhou mining company, Xinhua news agency reported. The landslide carried 1 million cubic metres of earth, the report said. Rescue teams were conducting search missions, and nearby residents were also evacuated.
