Hopes faded Saturday for finding survivors among the 83 miners buried by a landslide in south-west China's Tibet Autonomous Region, authorities said. Several rescuers were suffering from altitude sickness at the 4,600-metre site, a member of the search teams told the official Xinhua news agency. He said other minor landslides had also hampered efforts, according to a report of DPA. The accident occurred at a copper and gold mine in the county of Maizhokunggar Friday. The affected area about 3 kilometres wide was covered with about 2 million cubic metres of mud, rock and debris, Xinhua said.
