Foreign ministers of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Secretary General of the Council met with the United States' Secretary of State John Kerry, today in Doha, Qatar, to discuss progress and draw the next steps on the strategic partnership between the GCC and the United States and the areas of cooperation between the two sides announced at Camp David in May 14, 2015. The Ministers reviewed the comprehensive joint action plan between the group of states (5 +1) and Iran and the conflict in Yemen and the need to reach a political solution which is based on the Gulf initiative and outputs of the national dialogue. They also discussed regional challenges referred to in this statement. The Ministers also reviewed the agenda of the 5th ministerial meeting of the forum for strategic cooperation between the two sides scheduled to be held in New York in late September 2015. The ministers discussed the action plan in more details, including its content of restrictions, transparency, preventive measures and free access to any declared or undeclared nuclear facility. They also discussed mechanisms of its implementation and regional effects, emphasizing the position expressed at the Camp David summit "that a comprehensive and verifiable agreement that deals in full with regional and international concerns over Iran's nuclear program is in the interest of the security of the GCC countries as well as the United States and the international community." The ministers agreed that the comprehensive joint action plan when implemented in full will contribute to the security of the region in the long term, including preventing Iran from developing or obtaining military nuclear capabilities, calling on Iran to fulfill its obligations fully under the plan, as well as its responsibilities under the (Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty) and Security Council relevant resolutions. The Ministers reaffirmed the commitments that have been agreed upon at the Camp David summit that the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council share deep and historical interests in the security of the region, including the political independence and territorial integrity of the GCC countries from any external aggression. The United States reaffirmed its commitment to work with the GCC countries to prevent and deter any threats or external aggression, and that in the case of such aggression, or the threat of such aggression, the United States is ready to work with its partners, the countries of the GCC to determine the appropriate action on an urgent basis and by using all means available to both sides, including the possibility of using military force, to defend its partners, the GCC countries. --More 23:09 LOCAL TIME 20:09 GMT تغريد
