German police shot and seriously injured a Guinean refugee at the weekend after he attacked a man with a knife at a shelter for asylum seekers, dpa quoted police as saying on Sunday. The 23-year-old attacker had stabbed his 27-year-old flatmate in the hand and arm on Saturday during a fight in the city of Bonn before fleeing to the building's second floor. Police surrounded the building and tried to speak with the man. The situation escalated when the man jumped out of a window and ran toward police armed with two knives. Authorities tried to hinder him with pepper spray before shooting him in the arm and shoulder, according to the spokesman. The man was taken to the Bonn University Medical Center with serious injuries. Police said he is in a stable condition. -- SPA 18:06 LOCAL TIME 15:06 GMT تغريد
