An Egyptian man was arrested for murdering two of his countrymen in Safa District in Jeddah Monday. Witnesses said that they had spotted one victim running down the street with blood flowing from his body, before his knife-wielding assailant tackled him, stabbing him repeatedly and then fleeing the scene. Three passersby chased the killer, caught him and called the police. The police cordoned off the crime scene and traced blood stains to an apartment building where they found another dead victim, also an Egyptian. The three Egyptians shared the apartment. Early police investigations revealed that the three had a heated argument over unpaid bills. “I was fed up with them for not paying the bills and they always wanted me to pay the bills for them,” the suspect said during police investigation. “In the morning, I came to the apartment and started a conversation over unpaid bills with one of them, but the conversation developed into an argument. I just grabbed a knife and stabbed him to death,” he said. “Soon afterwards, my second roommate opened the door and saw the scene. He tried to escape but I followed him and stabbed him in the back, but that didn't kill him,” he added. Fleeing into the street with bloodstained clothes, the victim was soon tackled by the assailant who again stabbed him all over his body. The police confiscated the knife and lifted other evidence from the crime scene. An autopsy was conducted on both bodies. Lt. Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman of the Jeddah Police Department, said that the man would go through intensive questioning. Col. Muhammad Al-Juhani was the field investigator of the crime.
