Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani expressed strong pity for the failure of Yemeni parties to reach an agreement to carry out UN Security Council Resolution آo. 2216, which contains a permanent cease-fire, to facilitate providing the Yemeni people with relief aid. In a press statement released here today, he called on anti-legitimacy parties to give priority to the ultimate interest of Yemen, away from narrow-minded sectarian interests, that contradict with the Yemeni people interests, as embodied in the outputs of the wide-scale National Dialogue Conference. Al-Zayani, also, expressed appreciation of strenuous endeavors exerted by the UN to implement Security Council Resolution 2216, backing up efforts of the UN Secretary General Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Al-Sheikh Ahmed and highly estimation for good offices exerted by the ambassadors of the G16, in Yemen, to make UN endeavors, in this respect, a success, calling for continuation of efforts to reach a mandatory mechanism to implement UN Resolution, in order to consolidate security and stability, in Yemen and the region, as well.
