Several passengers were injured Friday after smoke in the cabin caused an Indonesian airline jet to be evacuated on the airport tarmac, officials said, according to dpa. The smoke came from the auxiliary power unit of the aircraft operated by budget carrer Lion Air as it was on the parking stand at Kualanamu airport in the North Sumatran city of Medan, Transport Ministry spokesman Julius Barata said. "Several people were injured during the evacuation process," he said. One passenger broke an arm after jumping from the aircraft's emergency door and had to be treated in hospital, Lion Air general affairs director Edward Sirait said. The other passangers were transferred to another aircraft for their journey.
