AlHijjah 03, 1433, October 19, 2012, SPA -- Seventeen people were injured when a British passenger plane bound for Spain was evacuated at Glasgow airport early Friday after smoke was detected in the cabin, dpa quoted the authorities in the Scottish city as saying. Police said four people were treated in hospital for smoke inhalation and a further 13 received medical treatment at the scene. The injuries were sustained as the passengers used emergency chutes to exit the plane shortly before take-off. The 189 passengers left the Boeing 737, operated by Jet 2, on inflatable chutes after smoke was detected in the cabin, police said. The passengers had been evacuated as a "precaution." "The aircraft was forced to curtail take-off due to smoke in the cabin. All 189 passengers have disembarked the aircraft.
