At least 16 people died and 22 were injured when a bus collided with a freight train in north-eastern Mexico, civil defense officials said Friday. The bus driver reportedly ignored a warning light and tried to beat the train across the intersection about 200 kilometers north of Monterrey, dpa quoted an official of the state of Nuevo Leon as saying. "It was a very powerful impact," state Civil Protection director Jorge Camacho Rincon said. It was not immediately clear how many people had been travelling in the bus, and the death and injury tolls could rise, he said.
