Iyad bin Amin Madani, the Secretary General of the Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation today denounced in the strongest words the breaching of constitutional legitimacy in Yemen, storming the presidency headquarters. the life attempt on several political figures and the use of violence by the Houthis against the State's institutions, seizure of Yemeni army and police weapons and security and defense equipment to wipe out the political process in the country, foil the outcome of the national reconciliation, the peace and partnership arrangement and derail the peaceful transitional process patronized by the GCC and supported by the OIC, the UN and the world community. In a statement, he welcomed the contents of the statement issued by the 41st GCC Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States concluded here yesterday, noting that President Abdrabou Mansour Hadi remains to be the senior representative of the State. He called on the Houthis to withdraw from the areas they are occupying, stop violence against Yemeni people and support the current political process. He reiterated the OIC's support for the unity, security and stability of Yemen and his organization's readiness to contribute to the regional and international efforts to preserve Yemen's might to confront the challenges of terrorism, poverty, illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
