Contracting Parties Conference of the Geneva Convention on Palestine is began here today. Before the conference, Faisal bin Hassan Terad, Saudi ambassador to the United Nations, delivered a speech of the Islamic Group and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Saudi ambassador called upon the states signed in the Fourth Geneva Convention to ensure application of the Convention and international law in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Al-Quds, and to take the necessary measures compelling Israel to respect the international law. He stressed an urgent need to develop a framework for protection of Palestinian civilians and to correct situations that threaten security and stability in the entire region, pointing out that the lack of Israeli respect of the international law threatens international peace and security. Terad denounced the Israeli military aggression on Gaza Strip, which resulted in killing 2,100 Palestinians, most of them are unarmed civilians, including 510 children and 286 women in addition to wounding 11 thousand people and displacement of 500 thousand Palestinians as well as destruction of home, places of worship, schools and health centers. He also condemned killing of Palestinian Minister Abu Ein, on 8 December, during his participation in a peaceful demonstration pointing out that the Israeli forces using excessive violence is a violation of 33th provision of the Fourth Geneva Convention.
