Japan premier's Liberal Democrats win big election victory

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's conservative Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) won a major victory in parliamentary elections for the lower house, final results showed overnight.
The LDP and its junior coalition partner, New Komeito, won a combined 325 seats, exceeding two-thirds of the 475 seats in the chamber, according to results early Monday.
This will enable the lower house to override decisions by the upper house, dpa reported.
