Japanese voters started to cast their ballots in parliamentary elections on Sunday with polling stations opening at 7 am (2200 GMT Saturday), dpa reported. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is expected to win more than 300 of the 475 seats in the more powerful lower house of parliament, major polls showed last week. The LDP and its junior coalition partner New Komeito are together likely to control some two-thirds of the chamber, while the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) is facing another major defeat, a survey conducted by the Kyodo News agency showed. On Sunday, polling stations will close at 8 pm (1100 GMT). Then, local media were expected to release exit poll results.
