Muslim Bosniak leader Bakir Izetbegovic stormed out of a meeting with EU representatives Friday in Sarajevo after Serbian leader Milorad Dodik accused the country's Muslim majority of wanting to take over the entire country, a participant in the talks said, according to dpa. The EU-orchestrated meeting was meant to be a new attempt to move past two decades of political gridlock in Bosnia, with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and the bloc's commissioner for neighbourhood policy Johannes Hahn meeting with the heads of state. Mogherini and Hahn want to get written confirmation from the country's 12 most important politicians of the reforms they promise to make in the country's bid for EU membership. Bosnia's three biggest ethnic groups - the Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats - have the right of veto over any legislation in Bosnia. Bickering between ethnic leaders has halted virtually all reforms and frozen its progress towards EU membership for years. While Bosnia has been trying to edge closer to EU membership by reforming its economy and strengthening the rule of law, Bosnian ethnic Serbs backed by Russia are pushing for an independent state. -- SPA 21:29 LOCAL TIME 18:29 GMT تغريد
