Polls opened Sunday in Moldova for parliamentary elections that many say will decide the tiny country's future foreign policy course, dpa reported. Campaigning focused on whether the landlocked country wedged between Romania and Ukraine should align with Russia or the West. The vote will be closely watched in Brussels and Moscow, amid simmering tensions between Russia and the West over the conflict in Ukraine. Like Ukraine, Moldova has signed a trade and association agreement with the European Union, and the current government wants to bring the country of 3.5 million into the EU.
