Most political groups in the European Parliament are preparing to throw their support behind Jean-Claude Juncker and his European Commission, representatives said Friday, ahead of a vote of confidence in the legislature, dpa reported. Eurosceptic and far-right lawmakers requested the vote over a multi-billion-euro tax scandal in Luxembourg, where Juncker served as prime minister for 18 years. He took over the leadership of the commission on November 1. The European Union's executive proposes laws for the 28-country bloc and plays a key role in ensuring they are implemented. The 76 EU parliamentarians who signed a motion of censure against the commission said they hold Juncker "directly responsible" for tax avoidance policies in Luxembourg. -- SPA 18:22 LOCAL TIME 15:22 GMT تغريد
