Dr. Riyadh Kamal Najm, the President of the General Commission for the Audiovisual Media of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, gave an account today on the negative impact of losing the frequencies relating to broadcasting service to benefit the mobile industry. In a key address at the General Assembly of the Asian Broadcasting Federation being held in Macau, China, Najm said a number of countries are now gearing forward to appropriate considerable part of their frequencies once allotted to broadcasting to benefit mobile service which witness increasing demand worldwide. He said giant communication and information companies in the world are pushing for this trend which he said would reduce the effectiveness of radio as well. He warned of going too far in this direction at the expense of radio receivers in remote areas.
