AlHijjah 20, 1435, Oct 14, 2014, SPA -- The Indian death toll from Cyclone Hudhud rose to at least 27 Tuesday, dpa cited officials and news reports as saying. The cyclone packing winds of around 195 kilometres per hour (kph) hit land on the south-eastern coast, near the city of Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh state Sunday. Collapsing houses and trees across the state killed 21, disaster management officials said, including 16 in Vishakapatnam, one of the largest cities in the region and home to a major naval base. Three deaths were confirmed in the neighbouring state of Orissa and another three people died in nearby Madhya Pradesh, according to broadcaster NDTV.
