AlHijjah 08, 1435, October 02, 2014, SPA -- As many as 1,389,053 pilgrims, from 163 nationalities, arrived from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this year's Hajj, Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Interior who is also Chairman of Supreme Hajj Committee, announced today. In a cable to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Prince reported that pilgrims were accorded easy and comfortable entry, accommodation, security, health, and traffic services by the host concerned authorities at the air, land and sea inlets. The minister's report said among this year's pilgrims 55 percent were males and 45% females. The number is 8545 over last year, an increase of 0.6 percent, the report added. He said 1,315,850 pilgrims came by air, 59,204 by land and 13,999 by sea. He attributed the safe and smooth entry to the high-level care and follow-up by the king and the Crown Prince for Hajj affairs.
