AlQa'dah 11, 1435, Sep 6, 2014, SPA -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Dhaka Saturday to hold talks with Bangladeshi Premier Sheikh Hasina focusing on investment, officials said, according to dpa. Japanese assistance in several planned infrastructure projects and construction of a special industrial zone for Japanese investors were expected to be the focus of talks, a Foreign Ministry official said. Regional and international matters of common concerns will also be discussed between the two leaders, he said. Hasina received Abe, his wife and executives from 40 top Japanese companies among others, in the capital. Abe's visit is the first by a Japanese prime minister to Bangladesh in 14 years. "The visit will infuse fresh dynamism to the comprehensive partnership cooperation between the two countries," Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said. Tokyo had promised 5.7 billion dollars in development assistance to Dhaka over the next four years. Abe will also address the Bangladesh-Japan Joint Economic Forum during his 24-hour stay in Dhaka.
